El Gobierno de Claudia Sheinbaum mantendrá el modelo de atención migratoria implementado por Andrés Manuel López Obrador porque tiene buenos resultados, informó la Secretaría de Relaciones Exteriores (SRE).
Juan Ramón de la Fuente, titular de la SRE, dijo que la estrategia funciona y la Presidenta instruyó a que se siga aplicando con énfasis en el ámbito humanitario y considerando las causas de la movilidad humana.
Para muestra, el Canciller dijo que los encuentros de migrantes en la frontera disminuyeron en 76% de diciembre del año pasado, cuando fue el pico de estos casos, a la fecha. No obstante, el funcionario reconoció que el modelo puede mejorarse.
«Y los resultados son estos, han funcionado, el modelo está funcionando, por eso, la primera indicación fue: ‘vamos a cuidar y mantener el modelo’, porque vean ustedes, del 18 de diciembre de 2023, cuando fue el pico de estos encuentros en la frontera, los encuentros se refieren a cruces que por alguna razón no son regulares, cruces irregulares, ha habido una reducción del 76 por ciento.
«Este dato es realmente muy importante porque demuestra que el modelo que propuso México tiene muchísimos elementos, que ahora no es el momento de discutir, pero el modelo está funcionando y queremos que siga funcionando», señaló.
«Hay, pues, todavía, siempre estos modelos son perfectibles, por supuesto, siempre se pueden hacer mejor y eso es lo que estamos tratando de hacer, pero funciona, funciona bien y vamos a seguir en esa línea que es la que nos ha indicado la Presidenta Sheinabum«, dijo.
Las declaraciones del Canciller se dan después de que ayer el virtual Presidente de Estados Unidos, Donald Trump, dijo que llevará a cabo su plan de deportaciones masivas de migrantes, a pesar de sus costos, y que una de sus prioridades al asumir el cargo será fortalecer la frontera con México.
«No es una cuestión de precio. En realidad, no tenemos otra opción. Cuando la gente ha matado y asesinado, cuando los capos de la droga han destruido países, y ahora van a regresar a esos países porque no se quedarán aquí, no hay precio», dijo el republicano en una entrevista con NBC News.
«Obviamente, tenemos que hacer que la frontera sea fuerte y poderosa y, al mismo tiempo, queremos que la gente venga a nuestro país», dijo.
«Quieren tener fronteras y les gusta que la gente venga, pero tienen que venir con amor por el país. Tienen que venir legalmente».
Esta mañana, De la Fuente destacó la atención que brinda la Comisión Intersecretarial de Atención Integral en Materia Migratoria (CIAIMM), pues contempla todo el ciclo completo de la migración.
Afirmó que tan solo en el mes en curso ha habido cuatro reuniones sobre el tema en las que participaron la Segob, Sedena, Semar, SSPC, STPS, Bienestar y SRE.
«¿Por qué es un modelo importante? Primero porque ha funcionado y segundo porque es bastante innovador, hay que decirlo con toda claridad, incorpora todos los elementos del ciclo migratorio, el origen, el tránsito, el destino y el retorno.
«Y lo hace de una manera multidisciplinaria, con la participación de instituciones que tienen que ver desde luego con la Secretaría de Gobernación y Relaciones Exteriores, que lo copresidimos, pero está toda la vertiente de seguridad, la vertiente laboral, que se vuelve muy importante, la vertiente de bienestar para cuidar y proteger los derechos de los migrantes
«Y la Presidenta ha puesto énfasis en que se trata de un modelo humanitario, precisamente por eso, porque tiene como interés fundamental proteger los derechos de los migrantes y apoyarlos desde sus causas estructurales, cuando están en tránsito, cuando llegan a un lugar de destino que puede ser permanente o transitorio y cuando desean regresar», añadió.
