Cdmx.- La comisión permanente con sede en el Senado de la Repúblico aprobó de manera unánime un punto de acuerdo de la senadora por Tamaulipas, Olga Sosa Ruíz por el que se exhorta a la secretaría de salud federal y sus homólogas en las entidades federativas para que se fomente la cultura de la donación de leche materna para asegurar el derecho de los recién nacidos a una alimentación segura y oportuna, debido a que la leche materna es fundamental para fortalecer el sistema inmunológico infantil.
El resolutivo aprobado por la comisión considera que la donación es un acto altruista que salva vida de bebés que no pueden ser amamantados por sus madres, bebés prematuros o de bajo peso, que están en terapia intensiva y a los que no toleran fórmulas de leche artificial.
La senadora Olga Sosa Ruíz expone en las consideraciones que la leche materna es el mejor y único alimento que le puede ofrecer a un bebé tan pronto nace, porque proporciona nutrientes necesarios para lograr un crecimiento y desarrollo adecuado, además los beneficios no se limitan para beneficio de los infantes, también se aportan beneficios a las madres como reducir de diabetes tipo 2, cáncer de mama u ovarios.
El punto de acuerdo aprobado por la segunda comisión de Asuntos Sociales de la permanente señala que 1 de cada 3 bebés recibe la leche materna como alimento exclusivo durante seis meses; en razón de esa situación, se crearon Bancos de Leche Humana, especializados en la recolección, conservación, procesamiento, control de calidad y dispensario de leche de madres donantes.
La senadora Olga Sosa resalta que de los 20 bancos de leche humana en México, uno se encuentra en el Hospital General de Ciudad Victoria, y para impulsar la importante misión es necesario fomentar la donación de leche materna y aprovechar plenamente la infraestructura con la que se cuenta en la actualidad, siguiendo a su vez, las recomendaciones de la Organización Mundial de la Salud.
El punto de acuerdo fue ingresado con motivo del Día Mundial de la donación de leche materna, el pasado 19 de mayo.
