Ante la incertidumbre internacional por los aranceles de Donald Trump, la Presidenta Claudia Sheinbaum aseguró que Walmart no se irá de México y que incluso sus directivos son defensores del T-MEC.
«Vinieron los de Walmart, ya ven que había este de este chisme que se iban a retirar las inversiones y no, van a seguir invirtiendo en el País. Y pues de otras colaboraciones que tenemos con esta empresa, por ejemplo la empresa Altán tiene un acuerdo con Walmart, donde el Estado mexicano tiene mayoría en fin de otros temas.
«Y pues muy interesados en seguir apoyando, y además ellos son defensores del tratado comercial, porque se benefician del tratado comercial en sus ventas y el empleo que genera en nuestro País», comentó Sheinbaum en conferencia mañanera.
Ayer, la Mandataria federal se reunió con Doug McMillon, presidente y director ejecutivo de Walmart Inc.
Sheinbaum informó que el empresario confirmó las inversiones anunciadas por la compañía y también su interés por participar en el Plan México, lanzado por su Gobierno desde enero de este año.
El 27 de marzo, la empresa estadounidense Walmart anunció una inversión de 6 mil millones de dólares para este año en México, con la construcción de más tiendas y dos nuevos centros de distribución, en el Bajío y en Tlaxcala, que podrían generar 5 mil 500 empleos directos.
El director general de Walmart México y Centroamérica, Ignacio Caribe, dijo que el objetivo es aumentar su red de 3 mil 200 tiendas de diferentes marcas en 700 municipios de todo el País.
